CELINA, Ohio — Tori Vaughn is solidifying herself at the top of the Tribe’s lineup.
The senior turned in a score of 103, a new career-best for 18 holes, while leading the Fort Recovery High School girls golf team to a ninth-place finish Friday in the Celina Bulldog Invitational at The Fox’s Den Golf Course.
Fort Loramie’s Emily Knouff earned match medalist honors with a 69, beating the field by 13 strokes. Van Buren totaled 368 to win the team title, edging Findlay by one. Versailles was third with 380. Fort Recovery scored 422.
Cori Stone tallied a 111 for the Tribe’s No. 2 score, with Trisha Thien and Emily Bruns posting matching totals of 114. Elli Keller also competed, finishing with a 130.
In a dual meet Thursday against Parkway at Deerfield Golf Course, Vaughn shot a 51 to earn match medalist honors. She and her teammates defeated the Panthers 224-243.
Thien and Stone shot a 52 and 55 respectively, with Sophie Timmerman and Keller both tallying 66.

Patriots third
MUNCIE — The Patriots battled more than just the course at Crestview Golf Club.
They had to put up with the rain as well.
Only one player scored in double-digits Thursday for the Patriots as the Jay County High School girls golf team finished third in the Muncie Central Invitational.
It was Jay County’s first look this season at its sectional course.
Lapel took the team title with a 359, and the host Bearcats scored 392 for second. Jay County totaled 439, and Heritage Christian was fourth with a score of 476. Fort Wayne Concordia did not qualify for a team score.
Senior Abby Saxman led the Patriots with a 98, followed by Brooke Sanders’ 109. Kendra Dodd and Sydney Robbins scored 115 and 117 respectively.
Carlie Wickey also competed, finishing with a 128.

Tribe wins opener
CELINA — Chase Bruns and Nick Litmer led the Fort Recovery boys golf team to a season-opening victory Friday.
The Indians defeated the Houston Wildcats 184-210 at Mercer County Elks Golf Club.
Bruns, who birdied the par-5 fourth hole and par-4 sixth, tied Litmer with a 45 to share match medalist honors. Litmer parred both the fourth and sixth holes.
Jackson Hobbs and Colt Grieshop tied with a score of 47 to complete the team total.
Calvin Rammel and Austin Faller also competed, shooting a 49 and 50 respectively.
Zach McKee led the Wildcats with a 49.
