Bluegrass Jam will be held at Limberlost
Taking Note
Bluegrass fans and musicians will enjoy the sounds of bluegrass ballads, gospel songs and folk tunes at a Bluegrass Jam Sunday.
The jam will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. at Limberlost State Historic Site, 200 E. 6th St. in Geneva.
Musicians are welcome to perform solo or jam with others.
Bring lawn chairs. The event is free, but donations will be accepted.
Bluegrass Jam sponsors are Limberlost Construction Company, Downing & Glancy Funeral Home and Geneva Case & Quart.
Blood drives
Due to a shortage of blood types most needed, the American Red Cross is asking donors with O negative, B negative and A negative to give blood.
The drive will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Aug. 18 at Jay Community Center, 115 E. Water St. in Portland.

Arts Place, 131 E. Walnut St. in Portland, is accepting registrations for ArtWorks classes.
Session I six week classes will begin Aug. 31 and include coiled basket making, decorative clay boxes and oil painting for adults. Hand building with clay and Zombies, Dragons, and Robot drawing is available for children 8 and older.
Session II six week classes will begin Oct. 12 and include oil painting, paper making in 3-D, and pottery wheel throwing, all for adults.

From noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept.19 will be a Glass and Palette-Paint Like Van Gogh workshop. The cost is $30.
Also from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 19 will be a workshop, for children six and older, to make miniature beach worlds. The cost is $5.
