The Patriots are struggling on their home course.
Jay County High School’s girls golf team dropped its second consecutive dual match on Monday.
The Anderson Indians defeated the Patriots 204-213 on the back nine at Portland Golf Club as the Patriots fell to 0-2 in dual matches.
Brooke Sanders had a season-best 51 to lead the Patriots. Rachel Antrim and Sydney Robbins had the No. 2 and No. 3 scores with a 52 and 53 respectively.
Junior Kendra Dodd shot a 57 to complete Jay County’s total.
Abby Saxman and Carlie Wickey also played, turning in scores of 63 and 65 respectively.
Anderson’s Claire Thompson and Sydne Condon shared medalist honors with matching scores of 49.

Spikers win opener
LYNN — The Rebels hardly put up a fight as the Patriots cruised to a commanding victory.
Jay County’s volleyball team opened its season Monday with a three-game sweep of the Randolph Southern Rebels, 25-13, 25-11, 25-13.
Senior Ava Kunkler led the Patriots (1-0) with eight kills and shared the team high with three digs. She also had an assist.
Kylie Osborne, a senior, and junior Abby Barcus both notched six kills and a pair of digs, with Osborne tallying three aces as well from the service line.
Lizzy Schoenlein and Britlyn Dues both added two kills, and Schoenlein totaled 18 assists and a team-high four aces.
The Patriots play Madison-Grant at 6 p.m. tonight before their home opener against Class 3A No. 4 Delta on Thursday.

Tribe tops ’Cats
CELINA, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s boys golf team evened its conference record Monday with a victory against Minster.
The Indians (3-2, 1-1 Midwest Athletic Conference) shot a season-best 171 to beat the Wildcats, 171-199.
Junior Micaiah Cox and senior Chase Bruns shared match medalist honors with identical 42s. Cox made par four times — the most of any Tribe golfer — on his way to a new career-best score. Bruns made par twice and had the only birdie for his team, doing so on the par-4 ninth hole.
Nick Litmer also had a career-best 43, beating his previous low score by two strokes. Jackson Hobbs completed the team score with a 44, one stroke off his season best for nine holes.
Austin Faller and Colt Grieshop also competed and both finished with 53.

Stars sweep Bruins
HARTFORD CITY — For the second consecutive year, the South Adams volleyball team swept Blackford in its season opener.
After battling to a 25-21 victory in game one, the Starfires (1-0) held the Bruins (0-1) to just 18 points in the final two games, taking them by scores of 25-12, 25-6.
Cindy In’t Groen had a team-high nine kills to lead South Adams. She also tallied three digs.
Madison Wurster recorded six kills to go with her 10 aces, which was a team high. Caralie Farlow totaled four kills, four digs and five aces, and Julia Grabau had eight assists to go with her four digs.
The Starfire junior varsity team also won, taking both games in the best-of-three match 25-12.
Sydney Pierce and Bella Bailey both had two kills, with Bailey adding five aces and seven assists.

FR girls fall
MINSTER, Ohio — The Tribe girls golf team dropped its MAC opener Monday at Arrowhead Golf Club.
The Indians lost to the Minster Wildcats 199-220.
Senior Tori Vaughn matched her season low with a 51 to lead the Indians, who also got a career best 53 from Emily Bruns.
Trisha Thien and Elli Keller shot 56 and 60 respectively to round out Fort Recovery’s team score.
Cori Stone (63) and Kristen Keller (68) also competed for the Indians.
