Backing accident
A Fort Recovery driver backed into another vehicle Thursday at Clear Choice Chiropractic, 406 W. Votaw St., Portland.
Betty F. Bechtol, 93, 503 N. First St., was backing out of a parking spot in a 1998 Ford Crown Victoria and did not see Kerioka R. Newton, 40, 1016 W. Main St., stopped behind her in a 1998 Chevrolet Monte Carlo.
The back of Bechtol’s car struck the passenger side of the Monte Carlo.
The Crown Victoria is registered to Danny R. Bechtol, Fort Recovery.
Damage in the 10:13 a.m. accident was estimated less than $1,000.
School vehicle
A Jay School Corporation food service employee backed a corporation vehicle into a Portland woman’s car Thursday afternoon.
Ronald J. Middleton, 74, 9340 N. 1150 West, Redkey, was backing up to make a delivery at East Elementary School, 705 Tallman St., Portland.
He did not see a 1999 Oldsmobile Bravada, driven by Lisa M. Fischer, 47, 804 W. Arch St., Portland, behind him as he backed up in a 2013 Ford pickup registered to Jay School Corporation, 1976 W. Tyson Road. The back of the truck struck the front of her vehicle.
Damage was estimated less than $1,000.
Recycling scheduled
Jay County Solid Waste Management District will have recycling trailers from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday:
•Marsh parking lot, Portland. Jay County Shooting Sports.
•Parking lot south of West Jay Community Center, Dunkirk. West Jay Optimist.
