Genealogy workshops scheduled

Jay County Public Library and Jay County Historical Society are sponsoring two genetic genealogy workshops on Sept. 12 in Portland.
The first will be from 9 to 10 a.m. in the library Community Room, 315 N. Ship St., and the second from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. in the meeting room of Jay County Historical Society Museum, 903 E. Main St.
Dr. Michael D. Lacopo, professional genealogist and member of the Genealogical Speakers Guild, will lead the workshops.
The workshops are free and no registration is needed. Refreshments will be served.

Library fun
Jay County Public Library, 315 N. Ship St. in Portland,  offers a variety of story times  and other activities for children.
Story times will be at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 15, 22, and 29; at 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 16, 23 and 30; and 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 10, 17 and 24. Several books, based upon a theme, will be shared and there will be a song and a craft.
Mother Goose & Me will begin at 10 a.m. on Sept. 11, 18 and 25. There will be lots of movement, songs, dance, rhymes and stories.
Preschool Playtime will begin at 10 a.m. on Sept. 14, 21 and 28. Light snacks and juice will be available and a staff member will supervise.
Making, for elementary aged kids, will have the theme ‘electricity’ at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 4 and 11.
