Jay-Randolph awards set
Taking Note
Jay-Randolph Developmental Services will celebrate the accomplishments of its clients, staff, volunteers and collaborating partners at its Annual Awards Celebration in September.
The event will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 15, at Winchester Community High School. Registration, refreshments and social time will be from 6 to 6:30 p.m. and recognitions and awards will follow.
Library clubs
Jay County Public Library will have several clubs meeting in September.
Lego Club will meet from 2:30 to 4 p.m. on Sept. 8, 15, 22 and 29.
Cookbook Club will meet at 6:15 p.m. on Sept. 14. The theme will be Potluck, Whatever You Wish.
JayCPL Book Club will discuss the book “Close Your Eyes, Hold Hands” at 7 p.m. on Sept. 21.
Hook & Needles Club will meet from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 22. Bring projects and supplies, share ideas and have craft time.
JayCPL Writers Guild will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Monday and again on Sept. 28.
Support group
State of the Heart Hospice will begin an adult grief support group in September for anyone who has lost a loved one.
It will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. and will begin Wednesday, Sept. 16, and continue each Wednesday through Oct. 21 at the office at 1237 W. Indiana 67, Portland.
Meredith Carpe, a licensed social worker, and Hospice volunteer Carol Gebert will lead the group sessions.
The sessions are free and open to anyone, regardless of their association with hospice care.

Jonathan D. Miller, Portland, was named to the dean’s list for the June session in the College of Applied Technologies at the University of Northwestern, Ohio, in Lima.
