FORT RECOVERY — Stephen Monnin’s first pass was incomplete. Given the way his next two attempts went, that was a positive result.
Nate Ontrop and Tanner Koch picked off back-to-back Monnin passes to set up a pair of Kyle Schroer touchdown runs Friday as the Fort Recovery High School football team rolled to a 36-0 victory over Lehman Catholic Cavaliers.
Ontrop took his interception 40 yards to the Lehman Catholic 1-yard line, and Schroer scored the first of his four TDs one play later. After getting sacked on the first play of the ensuing drive, Monnin tried to throw again only to have Koch step in front of his intended receiver.
It took four plays for the Indians (1-0) to reach the end zone again, this time with Schroer going 22 yards around the left end and untouched across the goal line.
A 1-yard Schroer TD, which was set up by a 34-yard run from Will Homan, made the score 21-0 at halftime. And in the third quarter a 27-yard run by Darien Sheffer led to a 31-yard TD from Schroer on the next play.

Schroer finished with 146 yards on 21 carries, and Homan also eclipsed the century mark as he toted the ball 10 times for 102 yards.
Caleb Martin was efficient through the air, completing 17-of-28 passes for 170 yards. He capped the scoring with a 2-yard TD run, and Schroer threw to Ryan Braun for a two-point conversion.
Wes Wenning caught seven passes from Martin for 70 yards. Jason Roessner made eight tackles.
Jacob Earhart’s 38 rushing yards were a team high for Lehman Catholic (0-1).
Fort Recovery will visit Fort Loramie on Friday in a first-round playoff rematch from last season. The Indians won that game 28-7 in their first playoff appearance before falling to eventual Division VII state champion Marion Local a week later.
