Tribe seventh graders rout St. Henry

ST. HENRY, Ohio — The Indians had two players reach double figures.
The Redskins weren’t able to do it as a team.
Hope Wendel scored 17 points and Elena Evers added a dozen as the Fort Recovery Middle School seventh grade girls basketball team destroyed the St. Henry Redskins, 54-9.
The eighth grade Indians lost, 34-29.
Wendel had a nine-point second quarter for the seventh graders (3-0, 2-0 Midwest Athletic Conference), and followed it up with four points in each of the final two to reach her game-high total. Alli Vaughn and Kierra Wendel both had eight points apiece, and Paige Fortkamp followed with six points.
Trisha Garke chipped in with two points and Brenna Homan had one
Val Muhlenkamp led the eighth grade Indians (2-1, 1-1 MAC) with a double-double, scoring 13 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
Olivia Patch added eight points and six rebounds, and Brooke Kahlig tallied six points to go with her four boards.
West Jay 8th falls to Tigers
DUNKIRK — West Jay Middle School’s eighth grade girls basketball team lost a close game Tuesday to the Bluffton Tigers, 25-19.
Allison Jobe led the Eagles (1-2, 0-2 Allen County Athletic Conference) with 13 points and 12 rebounds. She also had three steals.
Hallie Fields and Delaynie Bennett followed with two points apiece, with Fields grabbing six rebounds and also tallying three steals.
Sarah Bowdell had one point.
On Monday the Eagles dropped their ACAC opener 34-17 to Woodlan in Woodburn.
Fields led West Jay in the loss with eight points and three rebounds.
