Art is on display
Taking Note
The Portland Center of Arts Place is hosting the Alcove and Friends Holiday Show.
Artwork will be on display through Dec. 17 and a free reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Dec. 11.
The Alcove is a group of local artists that work together to promote and exhibit their art, which includes pottery, photographs, paintings and more.
For more information, call Kimberly Anderson, visual arts director, at (260) 726-4809 or email [email protected].
Legacy projects
Two legacy projects were approved for Jay County by the Indiana Bicentennial Commission.
The theme for the Jay County Historical Society’s 14th annual Heritage Festival will be “Happy 200th Birthday, Indiana.”
The second project will be part of Hoosier Heritage Farms, which celebrates the agricultural heritage of Jay County families whose farms have been tended to for more than 100 years.
The Jay County Fair Association committee will be contacting farm owners and their historical details will be put on a map of the county and its townships.
For more information, contact Portland Mayor Randy Geesaman at mayorgeesaman@embarqmail .com, Gyneth Augsburger at director@visitjaycounty or Sandy Bubp at [email protected].
