Depth helped the Golden Eagles as a team.
Jay County High School’s girls swim team won eight of 12 events but didn’t get enough of the other supplemental places on Tuesday in a 173-141 loss to Oak Hill.
The JCHS boys also fell, 178-127.
Sophie Bader, Anne Vormohr and Alex Bader were all double winners for the JCHS girls.
Sophie Bader won the 200-yard individual medley (2 minutes, 14.08 seconds) and the 100 freestyle (54.46 seconds).
Vormohr beat a quartet of Golden Eagles in the 50 freestyle (24.87) and also won the 100 backstroke (1:01.5). Alex Bader was first in the 100 butterfly (59.17) and 100 breaststroke (1:11.42). Elizabeth McDowell earned the only other individual victory in the 500 freestyle (6:06.69).
Jamie Valentine, Ashley Mark, Sophie Bader and Vormohr teamed to win the 200 medley relay in 1:57.74.
Sok Vormohr and Christian Phillips earned the only individual wins for the JCHS boys. Vormohr won the 200 IM in 2:16.48, and swam to a victory in the 100 freestyle with a time of 51.65 seconds.
Phillips scored 222.1 points to win diving.
The 400 freestyle relay team of Travis Barton, Christopher McDowell, Conner Daniels and Vormohr won in 3:38.25.
Jay County’s girls fell to 3-1 in dual meets, while the boys dipped to 1-2.

Fort tops Flyers
FORT RECOVERY — A 16-point third quarter and stout defense helped the Fort Recovery girls basketball team to a 45-31 victory Tuesday against the Marion Local Flyers.
The Indians (2-1, 1-0 Midwest Athletic Conference) had a 23-16 lead heading into halftime, before their offense had the best quarter of the night.
Fort Recovery also limited the Flyers to just two points in the third period.
Jocelyn Kaiser led all players with 13 points, and Whitney Will added 10 to give the Tribe two players in double figures. Sophomores Grace Thien and Carley Stone followed with seven points each, and Stone shared the game high with six rebounds.
Emily Mescher led Marion Local with 11 points.
Fort Recovery’s junior varsity team lost, 28-27.
Chloe Metzger hit a trio of 3-pointers on her way to a game-high 17 points. Hanna Knapke added seven points. Brooke Gaerke and Elise Gehle shared the game high of 10 rebounds.

Stars still perfect
BERNE — South Adams moved to 9-0 on the season Tuesday with a 58-43 victory against Winchester.
The Starfires and Golden Falcons were tied at 25 at halftime, but 17 and 16 points respectively in the third and fourth quarters helped SAHS pull away from the visitors.
Senior Cindy In’t Groen had a game-high 22 points for the Starfires, and Lexi Dellinger totaled 19 points. Sydney Pierce followed with five points, and Madi Wurster tallied four.
Elizabeth Pegg and Mariah Roberts both had a dozen points for Winchester (5-6).
