Miles, Chiefs beat Bluffton

Natalie Miles matched her season high of 18 points Thursday, helping the East Jay Middle School seventh grade girls basketball team to a 36-26 victory against the Bluffton Tigers.
The eighth grade Chiefs also won, 29-22.
Miles tied the season high she set Nov. 30 against Winchester. Pacie Denney followed with seven points, and Alana Kunkler tallied six. Grace Saxman chipped in with four points, and Zoey Elzey had one.
Macey Weitzel scored 10 points to pace the eighth grade Chiefs. Mikele Suman added seven points, and Asilyn Davis tallied three. Sarah Muhlenkamp Anhely Montes, Taylor May and Emma James had two points apiece.
The seventh grade Chiefs improve to 6-1 (3-0 Allen County Athletic Conference), while the eighth graders move to 3-4 (2-1 ACAC).
EJ 8th wins
BLUFFTON — East Jay’s eighth grade boys basketball team defeated the Bluffton Tigers on Thursday, 39-30.
The Chief seventh graders lost, 32-19.
Brayden Sprunger led the East Jay eighth graders with 11 points. Gabe Link was second with nine points, while Noah Arbuckle and Sheldon Upp both had six points.
Brandon Cramer, Alex McFarland and Cameron Henry all had two points.
Bailey Cox led the way for the EJMS seventh graders with seven points. Brody Auker totaled four points and Landon Grimes had three. Griffin Mann and Nicholas Fields both had two points.
Indians top Eagles
DUNKIRK — The West Jay seventh and eighth grade girls basketball teams both lost to the Union City Indians on Thursday.
The eighth graders lost 32-17, and the seventh graders fell 24-7.
Kymia Hankins and Hallie Fields led the WJMS eighth graders with six and five points respectively. Allison Jobe followed with four points and Delaynie Bennett had two. Fields and Jobe both had four rebounds.
Lilli Clemmons, Sophia Fugiett and Lyric Garringer had two points each for the Eagle seventh grade squad. Grace Morgan had a team-high six rebounds.

FORT RECOVERY — Clay Schmitz and Regan Martin both reached double figures Thursday as the Fort Recovery seventh grade boys basketball team defeated the St. John’s Blue Jays 54-28.
The eighth grade Indians lost, 26-18.
Schmitz had 18 points and Martin tallied a dozen to lead the Fort Recovery seventh graders. Derek Jutte also added six points.
Grant Knapke and Ian Homan accounted for all 18 points for the eighth graders.
Knapke totaled 13 points and Homan had five.
The eighth grade Chiefs also won, 29-22.
