Deer accident
A Portland woman’s car hit a deer at 6:30 p.m. Friday on Indiana 67 in Greene Township.
Abigail D. Shaneyfelt, 18, 121 E. Lincoln Ave., told Jay County Sheriff’s Office she was traveling north on Indiana 67 near county road 125 South when a deer entered the roadway. She said she could not avoid hitting the animal with the 1997 Chevrolet Blazer she was driving. She then pulled into the parking lot of Jay County High School, 2072 W. Indiana 67, Portland, to report the crash.
The Blazer is registered to Rhoda Shaneyfelt, same address.
Damage is estimated to be less than $1,000.

An Ohio driver’s motorcycle collided with a deer at 6:32 p.m. Friday on county road 200 South in Wayne Township.
Susan M. Bruggeman, 34, 32 W. Franklin St., Chickasaw, Ohio, told Jay County Sheriff’s Office she was traveling east in her 2007 Honda Silver Wing on county road 200 South near Blaine Pike when a deer entered the roadway.
She said she could not avoid striking the animal with her motorcycle.
Damage is estimate between $1,000 and $2,500.
Deer collision
A deer hit a Portland man’s truck Friday on Blaine Pike north of county road 200 South.
Thomas R. Robbins, 68, 2822 S. Butternut Creek Drive, told a Portland Police Officer he was driving north on Blaine Pike. He said he thought a deer hit the front panel of the passenger side of his 2015 Chevrolet Silverado, denting that part of the truck.
Damage in the 6:14 p.m. crash is estimated between $1,000 and 2,500.
Ran off road
A Parker City man’s truck went off the road to avoid striking an animal at 1:36 p.m. Friday on county road 1150 West in Richland Township.
Joseph A. Mettert, 46, 3263 N. 100 West, told Jay County Sheriff’s Office he was traveling north on county road 1150 West near county road 800 South when a dog ran into the roadway.
Mettert said he avoided hitting the dog with his 2000 GMC Sierra but the truck left the road and rolled onto its passenger side before coming to rest in a ditch.
Damage is estimated between $5,000 and $10,000.
Intersection collision
A Hartford City woman and a Portland man were involved in a crash Friday at the intersection of Meridian and Lafayette streets in Portland.
Regina M. Turner-Bales, 45, 53 Clubview Drive, Hartford City, told a Portland Police Officer she was driving south on Meridian Street near Lafayette Street and believed she was approaching Indiana 26, so she slowed down her 2007 Jeep Commander to make a turn. She said she saw the light was green and continued south before her vehicle collided with a 1997 GMC Sierra.
Adam J. Butcher, 31, 319 W. Penn St., the driver of the Sierra, said he was stopped at a red light facing west on Lafayette Street. He said the traffic light turned green and he continued through the intersection when he noticed the Commander and was unsure if it would stop. Butcher said when he saw it slowing down, he proceeded through the intersection and the Commander struck his vehicle.
Damage in the 11:01 a.m. crash is estimated between $5,000 and $10,000.
Left the scene
A Portland woman’s car was struck by another vehicle at 4:20 p.m. Friday in the parking lot of Dunn Family Dental, 110 W. North St., Portland.
Sadie Robbins, 937 W. Votaw St., told a Portland Police Officer she was told by an Dunn employee that her 2006 Pontiac G6 was struck by another vehicle.
The officer was provided with a license plate number that traced back to Brenda L. Cash, 58, 285 E. Pleasant St., Pennville.
Cash told police her 2005 Dodge Ram hit the car, but she said she didn’t see any damage.
Damage is estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
