Saturday vs. Richmond: A few too many turnovers proved costly as Jay County fell 44-41 to a Richmond team that hasn’t been as strong as past squads. Kyler Carvel’s potential game-tying 3-pointer missed the mark, and the Patriots had a season-high 22 turnovers. Senior Adam Dirksen scored 15 points for his third-straight game in double figures, and junior Jay Houck did the same by adding a dozen points.

Friday vs. Yorktown: Delta led from start to finish in a whopping 55-25 victory against conference rival Yorktown to snap a six-game losing streak to the Tigers. Kaleb Slaven had a team-high 17 points for the Eagles, and Matt Norris added 13.

Last season: The Patriots’ defense suffocated the Eagles in VanSkyock’s first game against his alma mater and former coach,?Craig Teagle. Delta managed just two points in the third quarter as Jay County won 45-28. Dirksen shared the game high with 12 points, and Houck added 10. Senior Zach Pryor sparked the JCHS offense with 10 assists.
Game notes: This is the 52nd meeting between Jay County and Delta, with the Patriots holding a 31-20 advantage in the series. The Patriots also hold a five-game winning streak against the Eagles, with their last loss coming Feb. 12, 2009, the same year Delta reached semi-state ...
