Right angle crash
A Portland man’s truck hit another driver’s SUV on Tuesday on Meridian Street in Portland.
Devin A. Bollenbacher, 19, 136 W. 400 North, Portland, told a Portland police officer he was traveling west on North Street and turned left onto Meridian Street to head north. He said he did not see a 2005 Nissan Murano traveling north on the road and hit it with his 1999 Chevrolet Silverado.
Diana L. Lightfoot, 36, 5405 Old Dover Blvd, Apartment 1, Fort Wayne, was driving the Murano.
Damage in the 3:26 p.m. crash is estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
Debris collision
A Portland man’s car struck debris that fell out of another driver’s truck at 4:05 p.m. Tuesday on Boundary Pike in Wayne Township.
Doug A. Votaw, 59, 3403 Boundary Pike, Portland, told Jay County Sheriff’s Office he was heading south in his 2008 Smart Fortwo on Boundary Pike near county road 400 South. He said a large piece of debris flew out of the bed of the 1987 GMC truck in front of him and he was unable to avoid striking it.
Dennis A. Bruss, 42, 3624 E. 700 South, Portland was driving the truck.
Damage is estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
Rear end
Two Geneva drivers were involved in an accident at 7:42 a.m. Tuesday on U.S. 27 in Bearcreek Township.
Jason L. Gibson, 43, 310 N. Main St., told Jay County Sheriff’s Office he was traveling south on U.S. 27 near Indiana 18 when he was approaching a horse and buggy on the road also heading south. He said he slowed down and put on his emergency flashers so he could pass the buggy in his 2005 Buick Rendezvous when it was struck by a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado.
Brian L. Clutter, 41, 10891 S. 200 West, said he was also traveling south and briefly looked away from the road. He then noticed the Rendezvous was slowing down and said he hit the brakes in his Silverado and swerved left, but was unable to avoid a collision.
Damage is estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
Credit cards stolen
A Portland resident reported at 1:33 p.m. Tuesday that his credit cards had been stolen.
Maurice Alsip, 500 S. Meridian St., told a Portland police officer two of his credit cards were stolen. He said they could have been taken from his van or his house Monday.
