Fort chamber names award winners

The Fort Recovery Chamber of Commerce has named Cathy Etzler as its Citizen of the Year, inducted Dan Schmitz into its Hall of Fame and named Cooper Farms the Fort Recovery Business of the Year.
The chamber also is honoring the Ohio Progressive Sportsman Club with its Outstanding Community Service Award.
Etzler has been active in the Fort Recovery community for many years and is currently serving as national president of Psi Iota Xi sorority.
The chamber is also recognizing several property owners with beautification awards.
All winners will be honored at the chamber’s annual awards banquet March 8 at the Fort Recovery Elementary/Middle School Auditeria.
Annual meeting
CrossRoads Financial Federal Credit Union reported assets at year end of $44,573,420, an increase of nearly 7 percent over the prior year. Chief executive officer and president Janet Bantz reported to the credit union’s annual meeting recently that total loans at year end were $26,869,311, up nearly 9 percent from the prior year. Bantz also reported total membership at CrossRoads rose to 8,997.
Dale Pearson and A. Craig Faulkner were elected to an additional three years on the board, while Pearson was recognized for 30 years of service.
Sandra Crouch was recognized for 15 years of service, while Bantz, Paula Davidson and Jeanna Ford were each recognized for 25 years of service.
Chartered in 1950, CrossRoads operates two offices in Portland, one in Dunkirk and one in Winchester.
Space available
The Jay County Fair Board is in the process of filling booth and exhibition space at this year’s fair. Two sizes of booths are available for rent, and all include electricity.

Dan Cummings has been named president of POET-DSM Advanced Biofuels, a joint venture working on commercial production of cellulosic ethanol.
POET-DSM Advanced Biofuels is a 50-50 joint venture between POET LLC, parent company of POET Biorefining Portland, and Royal DSM.
Tyson donation
Tyson Foods Inc. and Champions for Kids donated a truckload of chicken this week to Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina.
Tyson Foods is the parent company of Tyson Mexican Original of Portland.
Plant certified
Ardagh Group announced this week that its glass container plant in Burlington, Wisconsin, has achieved ISO 14001:2004 Certification, an internationally recognized standard for environmental management of businesses.
This brings to 11 the number of Ardagh Group glass plants in North America that are ISO 14001 certified. The Dunkirk Ardagh plant has not yet been certified.
The process calls for a stringent third-party ISO audit.
