Dealing sentence
A Portland man was sentenced recently in Jay Circuit Court.
Nathan Murphy, 28, pleaded guilty to dealing in a schedule I controlled substance, a Class B felony, and was sentenced Monday to 14 years in Indiana Department of Correction, with eight years suspended. As part of a plea agreement, a count of dealing in a schedule I controlled substance was dismissed. He was given 14 days credit for seven days served and was fined $5,000.
He was assessed court costs of $168 and ordered to pay a $200 drug abuse, prosecution, interdiction and correction fee.
Entry sentence
A Dunkirk woman was recently sentenced in Jay Circuit Court.
Dawn Prince, 47, was found guilty of residential entry, a Level 6 felony, and theft, a Class A misdemeanor, and was sentenced Monday to one year in Jay County Jail on each count, to be served concurrently, with all but 60 days suspended. She was given 12 days credit for six days served and began serving the remaining sentence Friday. She was assessed court costs of $168 and placed on formal probation for one year.
