Houck, Dirksen lead JC to win

Jay Co. roundup

Jay Houck and Adam Dirksen have led the Patriot offense for most of the season.
It was their defense that helped the Jay County High School boys basketball team to its 16th win of the season on Saturday.
Dirksen and Houck had season highs of 12 and 11 rebounds respectively — including eight apiece on the defensive end — in the Patriots’ 35-17 victory over the Wayne Generals.
Jay County (16-4) had an 11-6 lead after the first quarter, and limited Wayne (3-15) to two points in the second as the Patriots held a 17-8 advantage after 16 minutes.
Wayne, which dropped its third consecutive game, shot 21 percent from the field while the Patriots, who have won five of their last six, were 17-of-32 (53 percent).
Dirksen led the Patriots with 13 points and Houck added 10 as they recorded their first double-doubles of the season. Justin Dirksen followed with eight points, and Nick Clemens and Zach Pryor had two points apiece.
The Patriot junior varsity squad outscored the Generals 14-1 in the fourth quarter for a 41-37 victory.
Jason Schlosser scored 10 of his game-high 21 points in the fourth quarter. Cole Stigleman and Bryan Stancliffe tallied seven and six point respectively.
