Several events and activities are planned for March at Jay County Public Library, 315 N. Ship St in Portland.
Story Times are 11:30 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. each Wednesday and 6:30 p.m. each Thursday. Infants through elementary age children are welcome.
Family Fun will be held between 8:30 and 10 a.m. on March 3 and 17 for caregivers and infants, toddlers and preschoolers. There will be drinks, a light snack and conservation for adults and toys, puzzles, music and books for children.
Explore Fiber @JCPL will be held from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. on March 5 and 19 and the Maker Club will meet between 2:30 and 4 p.m. on March 13 to make a craft. These are both for elementary aged children.
Making It On My Own will be held between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 28 for kids to make do-it-yourself craft projects. Activities will also be available each day through spring break, March 30 through April 3.   
Lunch & Learn will be held from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m. on Monday, March 2. Kristie Henry, registered dietician at Jay County Hospital, will speak about “Gluten: fact & fiction.” Bring a lunch. Water, coffee and ice tea will be provided.
Arm knitting will be taught from 10 to 11 a.m. or 3 to 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 12. Learn to arm knit an infinity scarf with library staffers Terry and Mary. Please call the library to register.    
Author Kelsey Timmerman will visit the library at 6 p.m. on March 16 to share with visitors about his travels and discuss his books “Where Am I Wearing?” and “Where Am I Eating?”
Timmerman traveled around the world to find where some of his favorite foods were grown.  
Copies of his books can be ordered at the library before March 5 to have Timmerman autograph. The cost is $13.24 each.

Laughter Yoga for adults will be held from 5:45 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17. Wear comfortable clothes. No mats are needed.
Clubs for adults meeting in March at the library will include Cookbook Club at 6:15 p.m. on March 9 with the theme “Anything made with cheese,” JayCPL Book Club at 6 p.m. on March 16 to discuss “Where Am I Eating” by Kelsey Timmerman, Hook & Needles Club at 5 p.m. on March 24 and JayCPL Writers Guild at 6:30 p.m. on March 30.
A Tech Table will be at the library from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 14 to help those needing help checking out ebooks.
Also One 2 One Tech Tutoring is available with Cheryl and Cindy for those wanting to learn more about their digital device. Appointments are 30 minutes.
 Kathy Carpenter, Portland,  was recently appointed to the library’s board of trustees, replacing  Duane Sautbine. Carpenter is manager of the Portland branch of First Bank of Berne.
