Jay Co. likely to remain 4A
INDIANAPOLIS — The Patriots are likely to stay in Class 4A for at least two more years.
The Indiana High School Athletic Association released its enrollment numbers Thursday for the 2015-16 and 2016-17 school years. These figures will be used in the upcoming reclassification and realignment, which is done every two years.
According to a press release by the IHSAA, classifications will be announced within the next two weeks, and the sectional realignment will be in April. The realignment plans will be presented to the IHSAA Executive Committee for approval on May 4.
Jay County High School, which has been near the bottom of Class 4A since 2008, will have an enrollment figure of 1,108, ranking it 98th out of 405 member schools. It has four fewer students than No. 97 Connersville (1,112) and 14 more than No. 99 Kankakee Valley (1,094).
Jay County is likely to remain a Class 4A school with this enrollment figure.
South Adams, which has an enrollment of 390 students, moved up 10 spots to No. 267 out of 405 member schools. This should keep the Starfires as a Class 2A school, and also retain its Class 1A classification for football.
