Arts Place, 131 E. Walnut St. in Portland, is accepting registrations for Art Works classes to begin March 30.
A wheel throwing class with Leslie Newton will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. each Monday and Newton will also teach hand building clay from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays. Classes are $95 each.
Barbie Stump will teach egg tempera from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. each Monday for $95; teen drawing/painting with Ashley Austerman will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Mondays for $50; and oil painting with Steve McClung will be taught from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays for $90.

Students of Month
West Jay Middle School named its Students of the Month for February.
In sixth grade was Grace Morgan, the daughter of Tony and Rose Morgan.
In seventh grade was Megan Templeton, the daughter of Darrell and Jeanette Templeton.
In eighth grade was Kelsey Cassel, the daughter of Donald and Jennifer Cassel.
Volunteer award
The Portland Foundation is accepting nominations for the 18th annual Jack Cole Award for Volunteerism.
The award was established by the Foundation’s board of trustees to honor Cole’s work as its first executive director.
Nominations should be in the form of a letter of recommendation and include the nominee’s name, address and a brief background why they are deserving of the award.
The award will be presented at the Foundation’s annual meeting on May 20 and the recipient will receive a plaque and a cash award to give to the charity of their choice.
Nominations should be sent to The Portland Foundation office at 112 E. Main St. The deadline is Friday, March 27. For more information, call (260) 726-4260.
