A rural Bryant boy, 9, is in critical condition at Fort Wayne’s Parkview Regional Medical Center after falling out of a hayloft Friday.
He fell nine feet from a hayloft onto concrete at 11:20 a.m. Friday morning, and was unconscious when Jay County EMTs arrived on the scene. Shortly afterwards, he was airlifted to Parkview Regional Medical Center.
Rear-ended
Between $1,000 and $2,500 in damage was done when a driver backed into a stopped vehicle in the Walmart parking lot in Portland.
On Friday at 2:52 p.m. Deborah Hough, 61, 375 W. 1200 South, Geneva, backed her 2008 Chevy Impala into the front of a 2007 Saturn Aura owned by Lynn Rees, 41, 119 N. Ash Street, Redkey.
The Rees vehicle was stationary in the lane of the parking lot as Hough reversed.
Two-car collision
A two-car collision occurred Friday when a Portland woman failed to yield to oncoming traffic.
At 1:18 p.m. on Friday, Linda Fidler, 59, 403 N. Morton St., Portland was westbound on Race Street when she reached the intersection at Meridian Street and attempted to drive across the intersection. Her 2011 Jeep LRO was hit by a 2007 Mercury driven by George Glentzer, 61, 420 W. Perkins St., Hartford City. A pickup truck was waiting in the turn lane, and Fidler believed it was letting her through.
Damages estimated to be $5,000 to $10,000.
