Gardener class to begin in Portland
Taking Note
A Jay County Master Gardener Class will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays from Jan. 20 through April 21 at the Jay County 4-H Building. The class is sponsored by the Purdue Extension office. For more information, call Larry Temple at (260) 726-4707 or email [email protected].
Tree winner
Jay County Humane Society had the winning tree at the WinterFest Festival of Trees at Jay County Courthouse. Vicki Leonard and Nancy Rines accepted a $100 check on behalf of the Humane Society from Dean Sanders, executive director of the Jay County Chamber of Commerce.
Painting
A landscape painting class will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday in the nature center at Mounds State Park in Anderson.
Step-by-step instructions will be given by Park Place Arts in Anderson. The cost is $30 and includes all supplies and refreshments.

Re-elected
All officers were re-elected to the Jay County Historical Society board of directors for 2015.
Larry Hiatt and Kay Locker will remain co-presidents, and Tom Young will continue as second vice-president. Jane Spencer is secretary, and Judy Zearbaugh is treasurer.
Board members re-elected were Kay Locker, Sylvia Morrical, Jane Spencer, Blake Watson and Rob Weaver.
Library events
Jay County Public Library will have its first winter event Jan. 15 when it begins its Cabin Fever Cures program.
“Thursdays Mornings @ Your Library” will begin at 10 a.m. with a Tax Time Tips event.
An electronic tour will be given through Federal and State tax sites.
The next event will be at 10 a.m. on Jan. 22 and will be a Special Needs Adult Story and Craft program.
