Lawsuit filed over fatal accident
A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed in Jay Circuit Court regarding a Muncie woman’s death in a June 7 motorcycle crash.
Vanessa Darnell, 43, was a passenger on a Harley Davidson motorcycle being driven by her husband, Homer, 50, when it collided with a truck at the intersection of county roads 700 East and 200 South. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
The suit, filed Jan. 5 by Darnell’s estate, alleges that the driver of the truck, Luke Fullenkamp, 65, rural Portland, did not stop at a stop sign at the intersection, colliding with the motorcycle.
The estate seeks compensation from Fullenkamp for medical, funeral and burial expenses as well as attorney fees.
Aramyss Hensley is executor of the estate.
