Patriot tankers edge Bellmont
JCHS swimming
Jay County High School’s boys swim team picked up its seventh victory of the season Thursday, edging the visiting Bellmont Braves 152-141.
The Patriot girls squad returned to their winning ways with a commanding 189.5-115.5 victory against the Squaws
Christopher McDowell, Sok Vormohr and Cody White all won dual events for the JCHS boys, who move to 7-3 on the season. McDowell won both the 200- and 500-yard freestyle races, Vormohr placed first in the 200 individual medley and 100 freestyle, and White took first in the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke.
Travis Barton, Vormohr and White teamed up with Jason Minnich to win the 200 medley relay, and then joined Ian Reynolds to take the 400 freestyle relay. Reynolds became the newest member of the 50-second club with his split of 58.89 seconds.
For the girls, Sophie Bader, Anne Vormohr and Alex Bader each won a pair of events for the Patriots (10-1). Sophie Bader won both the 200 freestyle and 100 breaststroke, Vormohr took first in the 200 IM and 500 freestyle, and Alex Bader earned wins in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly.
Katy Smeltzer (100 freestyle) and Elizabeth McDowell (100 backstroke) also won for Jay County, which added victories in the 200 and 400 freestyle relays.
