ROCKFORD, Ohio — Three days after beating Arcanum, the Indians earned back-to-back wins for the second time this season.
Three players scored in double figures Friday as the Fort Recovery High School boys basketball team defeated the Parkway Panthers, 55-49.
Fort Recovery had a 24-12 lead at intermission thanks to an eight-point effort from Caleb Martin. He finished with 13 points, and completed a double-double by hauling in a game-high 10 rebounds.
Tanner Bates led a second-half surge by the Panthers, pouring in 17 of his game-high 24 points after intermission.
Bates and the Panthers got to within four to start the final period, but the Indians shot well (10-of-13) in the fourth quarter to hang on for their fourth win of the season.
Micaiah Cox and Darien Sheffer both scored 14 points to join Martin in double figures. Sheffer also nabbed eight rebounds.
Kyle Schroer totaled eight points.
Brandon Gibson added 12 points for the Panthers.
Fort Recovery’s junior varsity squad also won, doubling up the Panthers, 46-23. Kyle Knapke tallied 11 points for the Indians, who also got eight points from Jason Roessner and seven from Ryan Braun.
Stars win thriller
PONETO — The South Adams wrestling team was trailing 38-18 heading into the final four matches on Friday.
The Starfires earned four straight wins to beat the host Raiders, 42-38.
Mason Morningstar (285-pound weight division) pinned Jimmy McQueary, Brandon Wynn (106) defeated Dalton Armstrong by pin and Wyatt Miller (113) won by forfeit to pull the Starfires to within 38-36 heading into the final match.
At 120, Briar Goodwin pinned Wealey Moore in overtime to give the Stars the come-from-behind victory.
Keegan Boxell (138) and Boaz Marbach (170) also won for the Starfires, and Sawyer Miller (126) earned a forfeit.
