Couple celebrates 40 years

Mark and Janet Taylor, Springfield, Tennessee, former Portland residents, are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary today.
Mark married Janet (Sheffer) on Jan. 19, 1975, at Zion Lutheran Church in Portland with Pastor Mark Andrews officiating. The couple met on a blind date at Hines Theatre in Portland and were 1970 graduates of Portland High School.
Janet and Mark both worked in the logistics field, her in transportation and administration and Mark in operations. When they returned to Portland in the 1970s, they farmed and owned and operated Taylor Farm Drainage Company. Mark is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and is currently a driver for Maverick Transportation LLC with Janet accompanying him on trips.
They are the parents of two sons, Nathan Edward Taylor and Matthew Allen Taylor (wife: Amanda), both of Phoenix. They celebrated their anniversary with their family in Phoenix during Christmas.
