The Jay County High School freshman boys basketball team was tied with the Wapahani Raiders after eight minutes on Tuesday.
The Patriots pulled away in the final three quarters.
Jay County moved to 6-2 on the season with a 39-27 home victory over the Raiders.
After finishing the first quarter even with Wapahani, Jay County took a 14-10 lead into halftime. The Patriots extended its advantage to 21-16 heading into the fourth quarter before it pulled away with 18 points in the final frame.
Garrett Rodgers paced the Patriots with 11 points, and Collin Haines added seven points.
Connor Davis, Holton Hill and Jordan Stultz all chipped in with six points, and Max Moser tallied three points.
SA boys top Indians
UNION CITY — South Adams’ freshman boys basketball team picked up a 38-17 road victory against the Union City Indians on Wednesday.
Joe Stuber led the Starfires with nine points and five rebounds. Coy Wickey followed with eight points to go with his three rebounds, and Nick Wurster tallied six points and four boards.
Mason Sell scored four points and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.
Lars In’t Groen and Gil Lynch tallied four and three points respectively. Victor Vasquez and Nate Bollenbacher added two points each.
