Right angle collision
A Portland teenager and a Portland man were involved in a collision Saturday afternoon in Portland.
Tanner Miller, 17, 3158 S. 100 West, told Portland Police Department he was driving south on Commerce Street when he stopped at the intersection with Arch Street. Miller said he thought it was a four-way stop and pulled into the intersection, when the vehicle he was driving was struck by a vehicle traveling east on Arch Street.
Miller was driving a 1995 Ford Probe, registered to Paula Lennartz, 943 Sandy Hollow Lane, Portland.
Teedric Nicholas, 21, 535 W. High St., was driving the other vehicle, a 1994 Mitsubishi UGS, and told officers he couldn’t avoid the collision with the Ford.
Damage in the 3:43 p.m. accident was estimated to be between $5,000 and $10,000.
Deer struck
A Portland woman was involved in an accident Friday evening in Bearcreek Township.
Kathy Hudson, 43, 208 Oak St., told Jay County Sheriff’s Office she was driving south on U.S. 27 near county road 500 North when a deer ran onto the road. She said she couldn’t avoid hitting the deer with the 2003 Chevrolet Silverado, registered to Chad Caupp, same address.
Damage in the 8 p.m. collision was estimated to be between $2,500 and $5,000.
