BERNE — Three South Adams High School girls swimmers were dual-event winners as the Starfires defeated the Delta Eagles on Tuesday, 102-78.
The SAHS boys lost, 127-58.
Brette Klopp, Ashton Klopp and Cady Farlow each won two events for the Starfires. Brette Klopp took first in the 200-yard individual medley and the 100 backstroke, Ashton Klopp won the 50 freestyle and the 100 butterfly and Farlow earned victories in the 100 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.
They joined Caroline Kloepper to win both the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays.
Daniel Burson (500 freestyle) and Drew LeFever (100 butterfly) picked up the only victories for South Adams in the swimming events. Xavier Rupp earned the top spot in diving.

Stars fall to Braves
BERNE — South Adams’ boys basketball team lost for the second consecutive game in a 59-52 defeat Tuesday to the Bellmont Braves.
The Starfires (4-8) trailed 13-10 after the opening quarter and 32-27 at halftime. South Adams got to within four, 46-42, heading into the fourth, but its comeback bid fell short.
Cole Myers paced South Adams with a game-high 17 points. Marco Vasquez and Derek Wanner tallied eight points apiece, and Wanner grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.
The Starfire junior varsity team defeated Bellmont, 54-30. McGerran Clouser totaled 14 points, Justin Nussbaum had 12 and Nick Wurster chipped in with 11 points.

Bellmont’s freshman squad defeated South Adams 29-17 in the first game of the tripleheader.
Joe Stuber paced South Adams with seven points. Brandon Newman and David Muselman had four points each.

Bader, Dow qualify
FORT WAYNE — Eliza Bader and Ashlyn Dow posted state-qualifying times Saturday, leading the Jay County Winter Swim Team as it competed in the Three Rivers Aquatics Club’s Polar Plunge.
Bader’s time of 1 minute, 8.33 seconds, in the 100-yard backstroke qualified her for the state meet in the 11-and-12-year-old girls division. She also added a pair of second-place finishes in the 100 breaststroke and 50 butterfly.
Dow, who swims in the 11-and-12-year-old division, qualified for state in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:18.24.
In the 13-and-14-year-old division, Ashley LeFever recorded a career-best 57.44 seconds in the 100 freestyle, and she qualified for the Divisional Meet in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:39.62.
Sophie Saxman also qualified for the Divisional Meet in the 9-and-10-year-old division with her career-best time of 50.19 seconds in the 50 butterfly.
Also earning career-best times were Audra Bubp, Lilly Clemmons, Joseph Dow, Paige Fortkamp, Teigen Fortkamp, Damian Hicks, Kaitlyn Hicks, Cassidy Martin, Aubrey Millspaugh, Josh Monroe and Nevaeh Morgan.
