Vormohr to bring practice to Jay

Joe Vormohr, a former graduate of Jay County High School, has formally agreed to practice at Jay County Hospital after he completes his medical residency in 2018.
A graduate from IU School of Medicine in 2015, he is in his second year of a four-year Internal/Pediatrics Residency at IU Methodist.
Joe Vormohr is the son of Dr. Frank and Marcie Vormohr and the grandson of the late Dr. Joseph Vormohr.

Wind Farm Dedicated
A dedication ceremony was held at State Rep. Greg Beumer’s farm for the new Headwaters Wind Farm on Monday in Randolph County. The project’s 100 wind turbines have been the largest investment in the county’s history, costing $375 million. After years of planning, the wind farm has been made possible by EDP’s significant investment and the partner I&M, who purchased in the power. The farm will pay $1.5 million a year to 114 land owners for leasing their property to EDP.

POET reps defending the RFS
Three POET representatives, two general managers and a POET representative, testified last Thursday at the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) public hearing in Kansas City. They testified in defense of the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS), claiming the EPA’s most recent Renewable Volume Obligation proposal will have negative effects on the ethanol industry and the future of second-generation biofuels.

First Merchants expanding
By the end of the year, First Merchants bank will be expanding into East Central Indiana. The bank will acquire a New-Castle based banking company, Americana Bancorp, which has offices in Greenfield, New Palestine, Knightstown and Morristown.
The acquisition will make First Merchants the second-largest banking and holdings company in Indiana.

New online application
Ivy Tech has launched a new online application process for students who participate in the school’s dual credit program. This will allow students to complete the application more efficiently and in their high school with their dual credit instructor. The school’s dual credit program has reached its highest dual credit enrollment for the 2014-2015 school year and this year’s enrollment shows higher numbers.

Workshop
The East Central ISBDC will be holding free and low-cost workshops for small business owners at every level, from new business owners to established ones. The workshop, titled “Launch Your Own Business Workshop,” shows participants all the different key aspects of managing a business. The cost of the workshop is $25 and will be held in Richmond, Muncie, and Winchester in July and August.
