Summer swimmers beat Bellmont
DECATUR — The Jay County Summer Swim Team defeated Bellmont 667-331 on Thursday to win its ninth meet of the season.
Five swimmers were triple-event winners for Jay County. They were Maddy Snow, Morgan DeHoff, Mara Bader, Josh Monroe and Sok Vormohr.
DeHoff won the long freestyle, short freestyle and backstroke in the 8-and-younger girls division, and Snow was first in the butterfly, individual medley and breaststroke in the same age group.
Bader and Monroe were winners in the long freestyle, butterfly and IM in the 9-10-year-old girls and boys division respectively, and Vormohr earned wins in the 15-and-older butterfly, IM and short freestyle.
Nine swimmers won two events apiece, including Austin Curtis (8-and-younger long freestyle and IM), Eliza Bader (11-12-year-old long free and short freestyle), Ashlyn Dow (11-12-year-old IM and breaststroke), Konner Sommers (11-12-year-old butterfly, short freestyle), Erica Hathaway (13-14-year-old long freestyle and backstroke), Elizabeth McDowell (13-14-year-old butterfly and IM), Jason Minnich (13-14-year-old butterfly and IM), Anne Vormohr (15-and-older long freestyle and short freestyle) and Alex Bader (15-and-older IM and breaststroke).
Single-event winners were Luke Moser (8-and-younger backstroke), Jesse Brown (8-and-younger breaststroke), Cristian Carreno (8-and-younger short freestyle), Emily Strausburg (9-10-year-old backstroke), Ralph Link (9-10-year-old backstroke), Joseph Dow (9-10-year-old short freestyle) and Rieley Brewster (11-12-year-old butterfly).
Also earning single victories were Bennett Weitzel (11-12-year-old backstroke), Griffin Mann 11-12-year-old breaststroke), Natalie Blakely (13-14-year-old short freestyle), Ashley Mark (15-and-older butterfly), Sophie Bader (15-ad-older backstroke) and Thomas Boozier (15-and-older breaststroke).
