Small business seminar scheduled

Jay County Development Corporation will host a SBA seminar about finance from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday.
Small business owners or those needing finance to start a small business can find out what services and loan programs are available. Topics discussed at the seminar will include what goes into a business plan, loans for start-ups, news about economic development, and eligibility.

Promotion announced
CrossRoads Finacial Credit Union has promoted Beverly Huntsman to Branch Manager of the Winchester Office.
Huntman will lead the branch operations including lending and member relations. She has been with CrossRoads for 18 years and is a graduate of Ivy Tech. Huntsman was formerly the Manager of Member Services at the main office and responsible for employee training at all four credit union locations.
Program launches
The online application process for the students participating in Ivy Tech’s high school-based dual credit program can now be completed online and in a more efficient manner. Students can complete the application in their high school with their dual credit instructor.
Staff hired
Family LifeCare of Berne and Marion recently announced the addition of several new employees.
The new hires include marketing assistant Heather Swoveland of Jay County, registered nurse Vicki Bollenbacher of Mercer County and certified nurse’s assistants Sydney Arnold, Sadie Robbins and Beth Lightle of Jay County and Erin Kirchner of Adams County.
Workshops set
East Central Indiana Small Business Development Center is planning several workshops for benefit small business owners.
The “Small Business Fix-it” workshop will be an hour-long session that allows business owners to ask questions and seek solutions from a business advisor. Two sessions will be held with the first at 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the Richmond Innovation Center.
Ranked No. 1
Edward Jones ranked number one in “Best Places to Work in Indiana.”
BizVoice magazine teamed up with Best Companies Group of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to rank the state’s best employers. The ranking was based on employer inventory of practices and anonymous surveys of employees.
Edward Jones has more than 460 branches in Indiana, including one on Main Street in Portland, and provides financial services for individual investors.
