Stonecipher to speak at FR state museum
Taking Note
Author Mark Stonecipher will speak at 3 p.m. Sunday at Fort Recovery State Museum.
Stonecipher will give a recap of his historical book, “Caesar’s Silver.” The book is about an escaped slave from Virginia who came to Ohio and was adopted by theShawnee.
Books will be available in the museum’s bookstore.
At Swiss Village
Swiss Village, 1350 W. Main St. in Berne, will present Saturday Night at the Village at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Boots with Roots, a ukulele duo, will play folk, western, big band and country music.

Berne’s annual Swiss Days will feature free entertainment in Swiss Village Auditorium, 1350 W. Main St., beginning Thursday, July 23.
Ken and Mary Turbo Accordions Express will play at 2 p.m. Thursday, featuring a variety of polka music.
Gospel singer Frances Bond will perform at 10 a.m. Friday and the Jay Fox Polka Band will begin at 1 p.m. Jay and Patrice Fox feature the accordion, vocals, yodeling, cowbells, and schuhplatting.
A tour of Swiss Village’s newly remodeled independent living apartments will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at the main entrance.

Blackford events
Also the SummerFest Juried Art Show will be on exhibit from July 20 through Aug. 28 at the Blackford County Arts Center.
Anyone wanting to submit artwork for the show must do so by July 10.
A reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on July 24. Deborah Stapleton, Director of the Anderson Art Center, is the judge of the show and awards will be presented at 6:30 p.m.
A SummerFest will be held Saturday, July 25, on Main Street on the north side of Blackford County Courthouse.
Breakfast will be served from 7 to 9 a.m. at the Masonic Lodge and a Farmer’s Market will be held from 9 a.m. to noon. A silent auction of Blackford High School student art will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the south side of the courthouse.
Live bands will perform and there will be a childrens’ craft area and stories for children.
Summer hours for the Blackford County Arts Center are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday and Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 3 to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays.
