Rottenberg to visit city on Saturday
Taking Note
Dan Rottenberg, former editor of The Commercial Review, will be at the Jay County Historical Museum for a “meet and greet” event at 2 p.m. Saturday during a museum open house.
Rottenberg, author of a number of biographies, played a key role in the founding of the Jay County Historical Society in the mid-1960s. He was also involved in the founding of the Portland Society for the Arts, a predecessor to what is now Arts Place. He and his wife Barbara reside in Philadelphia.
The museum open house will be from 1 to 4 p.m. and will feature a Jay County Hospital Auxiliary display and items made at St. Clair Glass Works in Elwood.
Motorbike show
The 43rd National Meet of the Vintage Motorbike Club will begin Friday at the Jay County Fairgrounds in Portland and continue through July 21. The annual event is the largest meet of its kind in the nation featuring vintage Cushman motorbikes. An all-day pass at the gate is $5.00
This event will feature a variety of older bikes and scooters, show bikes and a swap meet.
