Pole hit
A Bryant driver was treated for chest pain Thursday after driving off a road in Greene Township.
Thomas A. Michael, 71, 6762 N. Indiana 1, told Jay County Sheriff’s Office he became ill while driving west on county road 200 North after its intersection with county road 500 West.
His 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt traveled off the south edge of the road and hit a Jay County Rural Electric Membership Corporation utility pole.
He said he blacked out and did not remember how the accident happened.
Damage in the 3:14 p.m. accident was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.

In area courts
Matthew M. Brockman, 25, 301 Fox Road, Fort Recovery pleaded no contest in Celina (Ohio) Municipal Court to operating a vehicle while under the influence and operating a vehicle without reasonable control. He was fined $575 with a $100 credit for attending alcohol awareness education and will pay court costs. His license was suspended for one year.
Krista M. Schmitz, 18, 105 E. Milligan St., Fort Recovery, pleaded no contest in Celina Municipal Court to operating a vehicle while under the influence. She was fined $375, will pay court costs and will attend alcohol awareness education. Her license was suspended for six months.
Douglas T. Lennartz, 21, 1089 Ohio 119, Fort Recovery, was fined $25 for speeding.
Ashleigh M. Jenkins, 34, 717 Blue Jacket Drive, Fort Recovery, was fined $30 for speeding.
Barbara S. Stachler, 69, 409 S. Elm St., Fort Recovery was fined $23.50 for a red light violation.
