Six injured
Three children, two women and a man were injured in an accident at 8:15 p.m. Friday in Jefferson Township.
According to a Jay County Sheriff’s Office report, Robert A. Adair, 33, 211 S. Portland St., Ridgeville, was stopped at a stop sign on county road 250 West at its intersection with county road 800 West. He did not see an oncoming vehicle and proceeded south into the intersection in his 2003 Ford F150, striking an eastbound 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan. Both vehicles came to rest in a ditch on the south side of county road 800 South east of county road 250 West.
Amanda C. Steed, 33, 821 Peters Road, Fort Recovery, the driver of the Caravan, her four passengers, Logan A. Steed, 6, same address as driver, Alana C. Shawver, 39, Alivia C. Shawver, 6, and Adrian C. Shawver, 6, all of 6679 South 100 East, Portland, and Adair were all treated for pain and minor bleeding.
Damage was estimated to be between $5,001 and 10,000.

Did not stop

Two Portland teenagers were injured in an accident at 6:22 p.m. Friday at the intersection of county roads 100 North and 600 East.
Katelyn M. Theurer, 16, 4586 W. 100 South, told Jay County Sheriff’s Office she was traveling east on county road 100 North and was unable to stop in time at the stop sign at the intersection with county road 600 East. The 1999 Buick LeSabre she was driving went into the intersection, where it was struck by a northbound 1998 Dodge Ram driven by Michael D. Link, 31, 218 Elm Road, Fort Recovery.
Link told police he saw the LeSabre travel into the intersection at about 15 to 20 mph without stopping. He said he hit his brakes, but was unable to avoid the collision.
Both vehicles went off the road to the northeast of the intersection, with Link’s Ram rolling and coming to rest on its top. The LeSabre, registered to Reuben T. Theurer, same address as the driver, struck a county road sign and a utility pole before coming to a stop.
Theurer was treated for back pain and her passenger, Doven S. Newton, 15, 2352 N. 400 East, Portland, was treated for a leg injury.
Damage was estimated between $5,001 and 10,000.

Shawver was fined $150, had her driver’s license suspended for 89 days, was ordered to attend alcohol school, and was assessed court costs.
