Swimmers top SA to stay undefeated

BERNE — Jay County’s Summer Swim Team earned its fourth win of the season Thursday, defeating South Adams 735-485.
Eight Jay County swimmers won three events each.
Ashlyn Dow and Eliza Bader each picked up three individual wins, sweeping all of the 11-12-year-old girls individual races. Anne Vormohr and Sophie Bader combined to sweep the 15-and-older girls individual events as well.
Madd Snow (8-and-younger), Jason Minnich (13-14-year-old), and Sok Vormohr (15-and-older) also won three events apiece.
Dual-event winners were Levi Muhlenkamp (8-and-younger), Jesse Brown (8-and-younger), Sophie Saxman (9-10-year-old), Josh Monroe (9-10-year-old) and Christopher McDowell (13-14-year-old).
Morgan DeHoff, Luke Moser, Juan Pablo Wiggins, Konner Sommers, Damian Hicks, Ben Nichols, Natalie Blakely, Elizabeth McDowell, Emma James and Luke Nichols all won individual races.
Eels beat Stingrays
FORT RECOVERY — The Fort Recovery Eels summer swim team opened its 2015 season with a 691.5-556 victory Thursday against the St. Henry Stingrays.
Ava Bubp (11-12-year-old), Cassidy Martin (13-14-year-old), Noah Homan (13-14-year-old), and Mackinley Timmerman (15-and-older) each won three events for the Eels.
Picking up victories in two events were Riley Grieshop (8-and-younger), Audra Bubp (9-10-year-old), Reagan Grieshop (13-14-year-old), Lukas Petit (13-14-year-old), Sophie Timmerman (15-and-older) and Alexis Bubp (15-and-older).
Christine Merrill, Nicole Braun, Jayden Ramirez, Joscie LeFevre and Matthew Romer won a single event each. Also earning individual wins were Logan Ramirez, Shelby Stammen, Nohlan Thobe, Rachel Kaup and Micaiah Cox.
Fisher sweeps
Fisher Meats swept Crossroads Financial Federal Credit Union on Thursday in Minor softball action of Portland Junior League.
The scores to both games were 13-0.
Rieley Brewster paced the Fisher offense, hitting a total of two home runs, a triple and three singles. Kearston Myers added two doubles and three singles, and Ellie Wendel had five singles.
Lauren and Grace Brewster had three hits apiece, and Kylie Klopfenstein and Brianna Zorn chipped in with two singles.
Grace Brewster earned the win pitching in both games.
Four lead Homestead
Four players had five hits apiece Thursday, helping Homestead Bedding to a 15-5 victory against Portland Optimist in PJL’s Rookie softball league.
Dakota Chowning paced Homestead with two doubles and three singles. Brooklyn Bright, Kenzie Tobe and Jayden Weaver also went 5-for-5.
Kendal Rowles had a double and three singles, with Lyndsee Tobe adding four singles.
Adriene Denney smacked a triple and two singles for Optimist, with Rose Carter, Tessa Miller, Jacqueline Rivers and Bristol Brewster contributing three hits apiece.
