Fort ACME sweeps St. Henry

FORT RECOVERY — Fort Recovery’s ACME baseball team moved to 3-0 on Monday with a doubleheader sweep of the St. Henry Redskins.
The Indians won the first game 7-3 before completing the sweep with a 5-2 win in game two.
Fort Recovery got out to an early lead in game one thanks to a four-run first inning, and it tacked on two more in the second for a quick 6-0 advantage. The Indians scored once in the third before the Redskins were able to scratch across two runs in the fifth and one more in the seventh.
The theme stayed true in game two, with the Indians leading 3-0 after three innings. St. Henry cut the deficit to 3-1 in the top of the fourth, but the Tribe answered with a run in the bottom of the frame, and added an insurance run in the fifth.
Cade Wendel earned the win in game one, tossing 5 2/3 innings, allowing three hits, striking out one and walking three while giving up two runs. Chase Bruns struck out four and walked three in five innings to win game two.

Ponderosa wins title
Ponderosa Steakhouse defeated All-Circuit Electrical 3-0 on Monday to claim the regular season title in Portland Junior League’s Rookie baseball division.
Ponderosa finished the season 8-1-1.
Isaac Roop paced the Ponderosa offense with two singles and an RBI. AJ Myers and Maanav Nakodkar both had a single and an RBI, with Griffin Byrum and Hunter Lawhead with a single apiece.
Wyatt Wendel, Nick Laux, Keegan Cavanaugh and Matthew Fisher all had singles for All-Circuit.

Correction
There was an error in Monday’s story about Portland Junior League.
Maddox Huffman was incorrectly identified for Pioneer Packaging. Huffman had three singles and a double in Pioneer’s 15-4 victory against All-Circuit Electric on Saturday.
