Tribe, Cavaliers split doubleheader

COLDWATER, Ohio — The Fort Recovery ACME baseball team suffered its first loss of the season Thursday, splitting a doubleheader with the Coldwater Cavaliers.
The Indians (6-1) dropped the first game 4-1 before rallying for a 3-2 victory in game two.
Fort Recovery trailed 1-0 in the third inning of game one before scoring the tying run in the top of the fourth. Coldwater responded with a three-spot in the bottom of the frame for the win.
In the second game, the Indians once again fell behind, this time 2-0 after the first inning. But runs in the second, fifth and sixth innings gave the Tribe a split in the doubleheader.
Kyle Schroer took the loss in the first game, and had an RBI double for Fort Recovery’s only run.
Chase Bruns was credited with the win in game two, tossing six-plus innings, allowing two earned runs while striking out six.

Swim team 6-0
MONROE — The Jay County Summer Swim Team remained unbeaten on Thursday with a commanding 927-107 victory against Adams Central.
Jay County won all 20 relay races, and 58 of the 60 individual events.
Maddy Snow, Ralph Link, Josh Monroe and Sok Vormohr won three events apiece.
Morgan DeHoff, George Clemmons, Levi Muhlenkamp, Mara Bader, Emily and Kelly Strausburg, Bennet Weitzel, Jason Minnich, David Ostrowski and Ashley Mark won two races apiece.
 A total of 26 swimmers claimed individual victories, including Aubrey Millspaugh, Austin Curtis, Jesse Brown, Sophie Saxman, Hannah Laux, Ashlyn Dow, Rieley Brewster, Elayna Paro, Eliza Bader, Dorane Bieswanger, Griffin Mann, Konner Sommers and Erica Hathaway.
Also picking up wins were Kaitlyn Hicks, Jenna Dunfee, Elizabeth McDowell, Emma James, Kaitlyn Dow, Christopher McDowell, Luck Nichols, Emi MInnich, Alex Bader, Jamie Valentine, Sophie Bader, Travis Barton and Thomas Boozier.
