Jay-Randolph to host film
Taking Note
Jay-Randolph Developmental Services is sponsoring a free interactive screening of the film “Be Safe” from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Fellowship Baptist Church, 289 S. 200 West, Portland.
“Be Safe” is an educational film made by and for young adults with disabilities at Joey Travolta’s Inclusion Films Workshop.
After viewing scenes from the film, the film’s producer Emily Iland will lead the audience in fun activities with area police department officers.

Bloomfield winners
Bloomfield Elementary recently named its spelling bee winner and Optimist Oratorical Contest winners.
Trenton Webster, fifth grade, was the spelling bee champion for the second year. He is the son of Nikki Ninde, Pennville, and Aaron Webster, Bluffton, Ohio.
Oratorical contest winners were Ralyn Chaffins, fifth grade, the daughter of Randy and Amanda Chaffins, Portland, and Josh Dowlen, fourth grade, the son of Amanda Rion, Portland.
Alternates were Abilene Hough, fifth grade, the daughter of Kris and Laura Hough, Bryant, and Tyler Weesner, fifth grade, the son of Carol Kahn and Nathan Weesner, Portland.
Weigh-in
A beef and dairy beef steer weigh-in and ear tagging for 4-H will be held from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Jay County Fairgrounds.
All animals that will be in county and state fair exhibitions are to participate.

The Photographic Art of Mike Lamm is on display through March 27 at Arts Place, 131 E. Walnut St. in Portland.
Lamm’s exhibit includes photography while he was working for the Celina Daily Standard, fine art photography and Shianea 1-2-3, portraits of the first three years of his granddaughter’s life.
