Capsule Reports

Parked truck hit
A Portland man reported that his parked vehicle had been hit at about 12:40 p.m. Wednesday.
Tyler Reidt, 1072 W. 100 North, Portland, reported that his 2004 Chevrolet 1500 had been hit by an unidentified vehicle while it was parked at Barnett’s Downtown Parts & Service on North Commerce Street in Portland. The other vehicle has not been found.
Damage was estimated to be less than $1,000.

Dynamic hired
Jay County Commissioners on Monday hired Dynamic Business Solutions to develop a new county website at a cost of $3,240. There will also be a $180 fee for one year of hosting the site and a site maintenance fee of $360.
Craig Frazee of Dynamic told commissioners his plan includes making the site easy for the public to use and including links to other relevant local websites. During the development phase, commissioners will be seeking input on the site from local elected officials and county department heads.
Commissioners also agreed to name a portion of county road 900 North from the state line to road 550 East as the Wabash River Heritage Corridor Commission Road. The commission requested the designation to bring attention to its projects along the Wabash River.


Collision at red light
Two individuals from Winchester were involved in a pick-up truck crash when one rear-ended the other at a red light about 10:15 p.m. Tuesday.
Michael Nelson, 58, 130 N. Cash St., Winchester, told Portland police he was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Meridian and High streets.
A 1999 Ford Ranger driven by Kristopher Harmon, 45, 202 N. 100 West, Winchester, read ended Nelson’s 2012 Ford Ranger. Damage was estimated to be between $2,500 and $5,000.

In area courts
Hannah F. McVitty, 25, Fort Recovery, was fined and assessed court costs for a total of $220 in Celina Municipal Court for failure to control her vehicle.
In the same court, Deanna L. Hemmelgarn, 22, Fort Recovery, was fined $73.50 for failure to maintain reasonable control. Robert Schaefer, 77, Fort Recovery, was fined $30 for a stop sign violation.
