Eagle wrestlers beat Rebels, Titans

DUNKIRK — The West Jay Middle School wrestling team picked up a pair of victories in a double-dual meet on Monday.
The Eagles defeated the Randolph Southern Rebels 42-3 and handed the Muncie Northside Titans a 30-3 loss.
Johnathan Pierce (117-pound weight class), Brenden Lawhorn (125) and Andrew Toney (145) each won two matches for West Jay. Malcolm McIntire also notched two victories, one each at 102 and 110 pounds.
Rob Garringer (102), Zakk Atkins (110), Nathaniel Lykins (155) and Larkin Alsip (HWT) also earned wins for the Eagles.
West Jay returns to the mat at 5:30 p.m. as it hosts conference foe Bluffton.

Bader, Dow win pair
DECATUR — Eliza Bader and Kaitlyn Dow both won a pair of events Monday as the Jay County middle school girls swim team defeated Bellmont, 111-72.
The boys lost, 112-55.
Bader won both the 50- and 200-yard freestyle races, and Dow took first in the 500 butterfly and 100 backstroke.
Ashlyn Dow, Lilli Clemmons and Leah Hummel each won individual events. Dow won the 100 freestyle, Clemmons earned a victory in the 100 breaststroke and Hummel was first in diving.
Bader, Clemmons and the Dows teamed to win both the 200 medley and 300 freestyle relays. Jenna Dunfee, Kailee Denney, Kaitlyn Hicks and Rieley Brewster won the 200 freestyle relay.
Tayler Smeltzer was the lone winner for the boys team, taking first in the 200 individual medley and the 50 butterfly.
