South Adams golfers fall to Blackford

GENEVA — The South Adams High School boys golf team lost to the Blackford Bruins on Monday at Golf Club of the Limberlost, 165-203.
Jacob Rife led the Starfires with a round of 46. David Muselman followed with a 50, and Lucas Bluhm had a 51 from the No. 5 spot.
Nick Wurster rounded out the SAHS team score with a 56.
Corbin Swygart also competed, finishing with a 62. Blackford’s Blake Thiery earned match medalist honors with a 38. 
South Adams’ junior varsity team also lost, 188-237.
Marcus Teeter posted a 54 to lead South Adams. Chris Beitler (58), J.D. Groh (61) and Eli Hamrick (64) also contributed to the team score.
Zach Colpaert finished with a 69.

Ridge to coach Cougars
FORT WAYNE — Jason Ridge has been named the new women’s basketball coach at the University of Saint Francis.
Ridge, a former South Adams boys basketball coach, spent the previous season as a volunteer assistant for the men’s program. A Wapahani graduate, Ridge coached the Starfires from 2003 to 2006 and had a 20-41 record. He then went on to coach Northdridge for six years, leading it to an undefeated regular season in 2008-09 and was named IBCA District 1 Coach of the Year.
Ridge becomes the 14th women’s coach in program history.

Trio lead Boolman’s
A trio of players led Boolman’s Auto Parts to an 18-8 win Monday against Local 1620 in the Sandy Koufax division of Portland Junior League.
Gavin Myers, Mitchell Langenkamp and Collin Kriegbaum all tallied four hits for Boolman’s.
Seth Fugiett led Local 1620 with four hits as well.

Wendels power All Circuit
Grant and Wyatt Wendel combined for six hits, six runs and four RBIs Monday as All Circuit Electrical defeated Williams Auto Parts 11-4 in PJL’s Rookie League.
Keegan Cavanaugh also had three hits and scored three times to go with his two RBIs. Nick Laux and Ethan Gillum each added two hits.
Ryan Timmerman, Joe Geesaman, Dawson Goldsworthy, Iziah McAbee and Grayson Swoveland each tallied two hits for Williams Auto Parts. Geesaman scored twice and had an RBI.

PG tops MainSource
A five-run third inning helped PG-14 to a 10-3 victory over MainSource Bank in PJL’s Willie Mays League.
Allen Dues had two singles and Ryne Goldsworthy smacked a double to lead PG-14.
Issac Braun and Keegan Hartzell each had doubles for MainSource, with Trenton Webster adding a triple.
