Gillespie to run for fallen

Run for the Fallen, a three-day, 140 mile journey to honor Indiana’s military fallen heroes and their families, will begin at 7:30 a.m. Friday, May 15, at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne and Portland resident Donald Gillespie will be participating.
Gillespie will join a team of more than 20 active duty members of the military on the run that will make stops in Decatur, Berne, Geneva, Portland, Redkey, Albany, Muncie, Daleville, Anderson and Pendleton and will finish at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 17, at Veterans Memorial Plaza in downtown Indianapolis.

Arts in the Park
Arts Place in Portland will kick off Arts in the Park with a festival from 2 to 5 p.m. on May 17 at Arts Park, across the street from Arts Place on 131 E. Walnut St. in Portland.
There will be face, t-shirt and chalk painting, special effects make-up demonstrations, storytelling, stage combat tricks, balloon animals, a juggler and food and drinks available for purchase. Jay County Community Band will play at 3 p.m.
