Candidate files
One new candidate has filed today to run for office in Jay County.
Amy L. Bell, 175 W. Lagro St., Pennville, filed to run for Pennville clerk-treasurer.

Meeting moved
The Bryant Town Council meeting that was set for tonight has been rescheduled for 6 p.m. Friday at town hall, 107 E. Main St.

Failure to yield
Two women were involved in a collision about 12:52 p.m. Saturday on Indiana 67.
Stashia West, 30, 1024 E. 400 South, Portland, was eastbound on Como Road and brought her 2004 Ford to a halt at a stop sign at Indiana 67. West began to pull her vehicle forward and struck a 2014 Honda CRV driven by Melinda Kelly, 59, 561 E. 650 North. Kelly was traveling northeast on Indiana 67 when the collision occurred.
Damage in the accident was estimated to be between $5,000 and $10,000.

Collision
Two men were involved in a collision about 7:15 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Indiana 67 and county road 200 West.
Jeremy Canterbury, 35, 414 N. Hendricks St, Bryant, was northbound on Indiana 67 and attempted to turn his 1999 Chevrolet 1500 west on to county road 200 West. His vehicle was then struck by a 1998 Honda Civic that was southbound on Indiana 67. The Civic was driven by Rishad Readus, 21, 4540 Bethel Ave., Muncie, and registered to Kimberly Readus, 936 E. 52nd St., Merriville.
Damage in the accident was estimated to be between $5,000 and $10,000.

Improper passing
A Portland man’s vehicle collided with a semi about 4:16 p.m. Wednesday on Industrial Drive at the entrance to Wal-Mart in Portland.
James Quinn, 47, 2199 Hidden Waters Drive East, Green Cove Springs, Florida, was northbound on Industrial Drive in a 2005 Kenworth W900, registered to C and N Transport LLC, 13 Westside Drive 94, North Grosvenor Dale, Connecticut, and attempted to turn east into Wal-Mart’s entrance. Michael Collins, 60, 124 W. Arch St. Apt 1, was also northbound and drove his 1995 Mercury SGS under the trailer of the truck as it was turning.
Damage in the accident was estimated to be between $2,500 and $5,000.

Parked car hit
A Portland man drove into a parked vehicle about 4 p.m. April 28 on a private driveway at 3123 E. 650 North.
Cody Welch, 22, 204 N. Middle St., was driving a 1999 Toyota UEX, registered to Susan Welch, 1173 E. 216th St., Noblesville, on a private drive at 3123 E. 650 North. According to a Jay County Sheriff’s Office report, Cody Welch’s foot accidentally hit the gas pedal causing his vehicle to collide with a parked 2004 Chevrolet 1500, registered to Paggy Englehard, 3123 E. 650 North, Portland.
Damage in the accident was estimated to be between $2,500 and $5,000.
