Jay Co. gets 5 ACAC titles

BLUFFTON — West Jay and East Jay middle schools combined to form one Jay County track team Tuesday for the Allen County Athletic Conference meet at Bluffton.
It resulted in four individual titles and one relay championship.
The Jay County girls team scored 102 points to finish in second, a mere 1.5 points behind Leo. Adams Central (89) finished third, and South Adams was fourth with 83 points.

Leo also claimed the boys title with an even 100 points. Bluffton (86) and Heritage (78) were second and third respectively. Jay County scored 66 points for fourth, and South Adams was seventh with 47.
West Jay’s Kinsey Litton and Noah Harris both earned individual conference titles. Litton won the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.85 seconds, and Harris had a distance of 17 feet, 9 inches to win the long jump. 
Kendra Muhlenkamp of East Jay won the 800 run with a time of 2:38.61. Ethan Huntsman, also of East Jay, threw 119 feet, 4 1/2 inches to win discus.
West Jay’s 4x100 relay team of Karlie Bullard, Renee Omstead, Calli Stigleman and Litton won with a time of 56.52 seconds.

Hartzell leads Barnett’s
Cavan Hartzell hit three doubles and scored three times, helping Barnett’s Auto Parts to a 6-3 win Thursday against Williams Auto Parts in Portland Junior League’s Rookie baseball action.
Benson Barnett added two singles, a double and drove in two runs for Barnett’s. Landon Garringer also drove in a pair of runs.
Joe Geesaman was a home run shy of the cycle to pace the Williams offense. He scored twice and drove in one run.
Ryan Timmerman and Izzy McAbee both had a double and a single.

Trinity routs REMC
Trinity United Methodist roughed up REMC 21-12 on Wednesday in PJL’s Junior league softball.
Brenna Bailey had four singles and drove in four runs for Trinity, which also got four singles from Elizabeth Barnett and Richelle Dressel. Barnett Tallied one RBI while Dressel drove in three runs.
Hallie Schwieterman and Alexis Sibery both had four hits for REMC.

Loy’s trounce
Loy’s Realty registered 21 hits Wednesday in a 24-5 victory against Local 1620 in the Sandy Koufax division of Portland Junior League.
Jordan Schricker was 4-for-4 with a home run, and Nicholas Nickson and Derek Bryan each went 5-for-6. Zack Twigg added three hits and Nate Dalrymple had two.
Seth Fugiett had three hits for Local 1620, and Neo Ferrel added two.
