Five named to first team
FRHS baseball
FORT RECOVERY — The Indians have been among the best teams in the state all season. They were rewarded Friday with a slew of all-conference honors.
Five Fort Recovery High School players — juniors Jackson Hobbs, Jacob Homan and Kyle Schorer and seniors Mitchel Stammen and Cole Wendel — were named to the All-Midwest Athletic Conference baseball first team.
Hobbs made the team for his pitching prowess, as he owns a 7-1 record with a 0.63 ERA and 39 strikeouts in 55.2 innings. He also leads FRHS with a .444 batting average to go along with 24 RBIs.
Stammen, who is tops on the team with 30 runs and 24 stolen bases) and Schroer (.429 batting average, 22 runs, 22 RBIs) were named All-MAC as outfielders. Wendel (.358, 23 RBIs, 24 walks) and Homan (.370, 25 RBIs, 22 runs) made the team as outfielders.
Derek Backs picked up second-team honors, and Nate Lochtefeld and Ben Will each earned honorable mention.
