Jay schools to start serving free lunches

The Jay School Corporation will provide free snacks and lunches at area schools beginning June 8 and continuing through July 24.
Schools will include Westlawn, Redkey, Judge Haynes, General Shanks and Pennville (lunch only) elementary schools.
Snacks will be provided from 9:45 to 10:15 a.m. and lunch will be served from 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Friday for anyone 18 and younger. Participants don’t have to be students or Jay County residents. Snacks will be available for 75 cents for adults and lunches for $3.50.

Summer bookmobile
The Jay County Public Library summer bookmobile will make stops at Redkey Elementary and Bearcreek Farms in June and July.
The bookmobile will be in Redkey from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Wednesday through July 8 and from 9 to 11 a.m. each Thursday at Bearcreek Farms through July 9.
Bring library cards or register for one by bringing identification and proof of address.

Alumni banquet   
The Portland Alumni Banquet will be held at 6 p.m. on June 20 in the Jay County High School commons. Registrations are due by June 1.

Preschool registration
Registrations are being accepted for  preschool at Fort Recovery Elementary/Middle School in the fall.
Children in Fort Recovery and surrounding districts are welcome. There are two, three and four day-a-week programs available in morning and afternoon sessions that last 3 1/2 hours.
