Three spikers honored


The Patriots picked up two conference trophies on their way to a 27-6 record.
Three members of the squad were awarded for their efforts on the court.
Jay County High School’s volleyball team had three representatives on the Allen County Athletic Conference all-conference teams.
South Adams had two earn the honor.
Juniors Abby Barcus, a middle and outside hitter, and setter Lizzy Schoenlein were both named to the first team for the Patriots, who set a school record for wins in a season and made a clean sweep of both the regular season and tournament conference championships. The Patriots also had the fewest number of losses in coach Fred Medler’s two-plus decades at the helm.
Senior opposite hitter Ava Kunkler was named to the second team.

South Adams sophomore Madi Wurster was the lone first-team representative for the Starfires, who finished 23-12 and won the program’s first sectional title since 1997.
South Adams senior Kylie Grabau earned second-team all-conference.
Other first-team honorees were Jenni?Baumer (Adams Central), Makalah Krick (Heritage), Haley Hoffman (Heritage) and Kory Gerig (Woodlan).
Also on the second team were Anna Burkhart (Adams Central), Emma Clines (Bluffton), Sara Baumgartner (Bluffton), Grace Castleman (Heritage) and Megan Fiechter (Southern Wells).
