Arbuckle, Link lead East Jay in loss

Noah Arbuckle and Gabe Link led the Chiefs in a season-opening loss.
Arbuckle and Link scored seven points apiece Monday as the East Jay Middle School eighth grade boys basketball team lost to the Norwell Knights, 51-18.
The EJMS seventh graders also lost, 23-14.
Reid Claycomb and Sheldon Upp each had two points for the eighth graders, who were overmatched by the Knights.
Landon Grimes led the offense for the seventh grade Chiefs. Brian Zhang chipped in with three points Blake Caldwell and Nicholas Fields had two and one point respectively.
Both teams fell to 0-1, and host Adams Central at 5 p.m. tonight.

OSSIAN — East Jay’s seventh and eighth grade girls basketball teams both opened their season with a loss to the Norwell Knights on Monday.
The seventh graders fell 33-22, and the Chiefs’ eighth grade squad lost 37-18.
Natalie Miles paced the seventh graders with eight points. Grace Saxman and Zoey Elzey added four points apiece. Aubrie Schwieterman, Alana Kunkler and Madison Fouch all tallied two points.
Taylor May and Mikele Suman both scored six points to lead the EJMS?eighth graders. Macey Weitzel added five points and Anhely Montes had one.
Both squads are 0-1 this season and open Allen County Athletic Conference play at 5 p.m. tonight on the road against Adams Central.
